Peggy Clay, 60, of Ghent, stopped by her local retailer on Monday afternoon on her way home from work to pick up a scratch-off ticket. She’d decided on the $10 $150,000 Richer! ticket because it caught her attention.
While scratching the ticket off, Clay matched one of her numbers to a winning number. She then proceeded to scratch off the prize amount. “I saw the 15 and thought that was pretty cool. But then I kept on scratching and the zeroes just kept on going,” Clay told lottery officials.
After the store clerk confirmed that Clay had won the game’s top prize of $150,000, Clay called her son Jeremy. “Remember when I told you one day I was going to hit big,” she told him. “Well I just did!”
Clay, who works for Universal Protection Services, plans to first buy a reliable car with her winnings.
Cowboys #109 in Ghent, where Clay bought her winning ticket, will receive $1,500 for selling the ticket.
